The GunTab Buying Process Explained
Intro – What is GunTab?
GunTab is an escrow-based payment platform built specifically for firearms transactions and GunTab guarantees you’re protected from scams. Buy gun-related merchandise from anyone, anywhere. When you pay through GunTab, your money is held securely until you’ve had the chance to inspect your purchase. This is the only peer-to-peer payment platform for secure firearm transactions. PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, ApplePay, etc. do not allow their services to be used for firearms or firearm related accessories. Doing so is a violation of their policy and may result in your account being banned.
How the GunTab buying process works
- Click the buy now button on the item you want to purchase and proceed to checkout to start the online checkout on GunsAmerica.
- On the order summary screen, click Pay with GunTab. A GunTab window will open where you will login to your GunTab account and select your payment option – Credit card or ACH payment. If you don’t have a GunTab account, you can set one up here.
- Pay for the transaction using your preferred payment method in the GunTab window.
- The seller will be notified once you have paid and begin the shipping process.
- The seller ships the item and enters tracking information on GunTab. GunTab tracks delivery – tracking information also shows on your GunsAmerica order screen.
- Once the item is marked delivered, your 3-day inspection period begins.
- Inspect the item. If everything checks out, accept the transaction and the seller gets paid. If there’s a problem, you can open a dispute. If you do nothing during the 3 day window, the seller gets paid.
Payment Methods and Fees
GunTab supports three ways to pay:
1. Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express)
A 3% convenience fee applies when paying by credit card. GunTab does not keep this fee — it goes directly to offset the cost of card processing. In some cases, the seller may agree to cover this fee, but by default it is the buyer’s responsibility.
2. Bank Account (ACH)
Paying by bank account avoids the 3% credit card fee entirely. However, ACH payments carry a 4 business day processing delay before funds are confirmed and the transaction moves forward. The seller will not ship the item until funds are confirmed. Both personal and business checking or savings accounts from any US bank are accepted. Bank accounts must be verified before use.
3. Wire Transfer
For purchases over $10,000, GunTab requires payment by wire transfer. Your bank will typically charge around $20 for the wire. No account verification is required for wire transfers.
GunTab Service Fee:
In addition to the payment method fees above, GunTab charges a 2.9% service fee on each transaction. This fee is typically paid by the seller by default, though it can be split or shifted to the buyer depending on what’s agreed.
The Inspection Period
Once your item is marked as delivered in GunTab, you have exactly 3 calendar days to inspect it. During that window, you can:
- Accept the transaction after inspection (funds release to the seller immediately).
- Open a dispute if the item is not as described.
- Do nothing: If the inspection period expires without action, the transaction is automatically accepted and the seller is paid.
- The 3-day window does not pause for weekends, holidays, FFL dealer processing times, or state waiting periods, so plan accordingly after your item arrives.

When Does the Seller Get Paid?
The seller receives their disbursement no more than 3 days after delivery, once the inspection period has concluded. Funds are not released until you’ve had a chance to review the item, or when the inspection period ends – whichever comes first.
